Our Curriculum

At Bridge End House Nursery we understand that children learn best through play, so we offer an inclusive play based curriculum which supports all areas of learning and development stipulated through the EYFS.

Our early years curriculum is designed to support your child's curiosity and inspire their own desire for learning with activities planned and developed from their own individual interests. We want children to feel that learning is fun and interesting so that they will be enthusiastic about learning for the rest of their lives.

We deliver our curriculum through a variety of play opportunities such as construction, heuristic play, imaginative play, creative, malleable, numeracy and literacy activities.

We allow children to flow between indoor and outdoor play, as it known that outdoor play contributes enormously to your child's development and mental health and wellbeing. We provide an amazing outdoor area which facilitates a vegetable patch with our own apple tree and a very muddy mud kitchen!

Observations and Assessments

We track and record your child's learning through observations which are recorded on the Famly app and are accessible for you to read in real time.

Children are formatively assessed termly, these assessment are then used to track your child's learning and development to ensure they are receiving the support they need. These are also accessible for you to read on the Famly app and your child's keyworker will always be available for you to discuss any concerns raised.

Our Approach

We are also proud to say that our curriculum and approach is inspired and influenced by The Curiosity Approach. The Curiosity Approach are renowned and known for transforming environments into calm and tranquil spaces, stepping away from the traditional brightly coloured and plastic filled play spaces.

There is much research that states bright and overstimulating environment's can have a direct impact on your child's concentration and well-being. With this in mind we have designed our rooms with neutral tones and authentic resources for children to feel safe and relaxed,

Throughout the nursery you will see children playing with authentic and real resources. We introduced these resources for many reasons, one being that when children handle plastic resources and pretend playsets there are no consequences regarding to the care of nursery equipment.

Another reason being that plastic toys are reducing children's active learning. By providing and supporting children's play with the use of authentic resources we are able to offer children a range of valuable learning resources and unrestricted play.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

We pride ourselves on offering an inclusive curriculum at Bridge End House Nursery and if any child is in need of extra support we have the knowledge and the resources to support this.

Led by Harriet, our assistant manager, we are lucky to have two trained specialist SEN professionals Claire who works with our 3 to 4 yr olds and Becky who works with our under 2's. They are both always available to discuss any worries or extra support that may be needed for your child.
